Obituary

Worcester: Mary J. (Willett) Boucher, 67, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 26, 2018 surrounded by her loving family, following a long and courageous battle with Alzheimers. She leaves her high school sweetheart and loving husband Gary W. Boucher of 44 years who was her sole care giver during her illness; A son- Mark J. Boucher of Ashburnham; A daughter- Laura Dubreuil and her husband Jake of Southbridge; 3 grandchildren- Michael Ferraiuolo, Connor and Olivia Dubreuil; A son- Brian Boucher and his wife Cassie of Rutland; and another grandchild who will be arriving in July; A sister- Toni Heard and her husband John of Millbury; A brother- Brian Willett and his wife Nancy of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Elaine Vaughn. She also leaves behind her dear friend Maureen McCann who stood by her throughout her illness.

Mary was born in Worcester, the youngest daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Hogan) Willett. She graduated from Burncoat High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree from Worcester State College. She worked for over 30 years as a dispatcher at Holy Cross College. She later worked as a certified occupational therapist for children throughout central MA. Mary was fervent about her religion and was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church. She was an active member of her community and donated her time volunteering to many local oragnizations including Abby's House. Mary was a kind soul who helped anyone in need. She donated items to the poor, organized fund raisers, worked with disabled children, battered women, and always offered a shoulder to cry on when needed. She enjoyed arts and crafts -especially quilting, painting, needlepoint, pottery, and photography. She was passionate about her love for animals and enjoyed metal detecting in her free time. Family and friends were Mary’s number one priority. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and even more so of her children and grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. in Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. To celebrate and honor Mary’s courageous battle with Alzheimers please feel free to wear something purple to the services. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to either The Alzheimer's Association or the Worcester Animal Rescue League.
