Obituary

Shrewsbury: Joan V. (Bilske) Sjostedt, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 12, 2018 in St. Vincent's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She leaves two daughters- Kristine Sjostedt and Nancy Monahan and her husband William, all of Shrewsbury; two sons- Andrew and his wife Jean Sjostedt of RI and Peter and his wife Andrea Sjostedt of Rutland; a daughter-in-law Deborah Sjostedt; 11 grandchildren- Korinne and her husband Tapan Mehta, Anna and her husband Matthew Romito, Alex Reinhard, Maggie, Griffin and Liam Monahan, Lilah, Greta, Samuel, Beck, and Aaron Sjostedt; two great-grandchildren- Lucia Romito and Lincoln Mehta; and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two sons- Jeffrey and David Sjostedt and by her brother Robert Bilske.

Joan was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Augustus and Esther (Lekberg) Bilske. She graduated from Commerce High School and worked for many years as a key punch operator for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She loved music, gardening, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. Joan was a wonderful listener and was kind to everyone. She had a keen wit, phenomenal memory, and always made the best cup of coffee. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincent's Hospital for their compassionate care of Joan.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. in Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery.
