Obituary

WORCESTER-Edward J. O’Connell, Jr. 82, of Worcester passed away Saturday, March 24 at the Hermitage Nursing Center.

He leaves his wife of 49 years, Mary E. (McKeon); a daughter, Patricia Ann O’Connell and her husband, James Case of Kansas City, MO; and three grandchildren, Paul, Katye and Jamie. He was born in Montpellier, VT son of Edward and Dorothy (McKenna) O’Connell and graduated from Boston University and received his master’s degree from Boston College.

Edward was a longtime social worker for the VA Out Patient Administration in Worcester and Boston. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. Edward also enjoyed golfing and playing racquetball ball at the YMCA, but he truly loved to spend time with family surrounded by the mountains and lakes of Vermont and New Hampshire.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Hermitage Nursing Center for all their compassionate care and support.

A Visiting Hour will be held Thursday, March 29 from 9:00 to 10:00AM in Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street followed by a Liturgy of the Word Service of Christian Burial at 10:30AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St. Burial will be in St. Lambert Cemetery, Laconia, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church.
