Obituary

Oxford – Gail B. (Irwin) Confer, 73, of Oxford, died peacefully in her home with her family by her side on Thursday, March 22nd after a courageous battle with cancer.
Gail was married for 51 years to the late Joseph H. Confer who died in 2015. She is survived by a son, Joseph Confer and his wife Kristen of Dudley; 5 daughters, Lyndsay Morello and her husband, John of Oxford, Helena Confer of Oxford, Alisha Green and her husband, Jonathan of Webster, Rebecca Confer of Webster and Hannah Confer of Oxford; two brothers, Robert Dahrooge and his wife, Betty of Leicester and Martin Irwin and his wife, Anne of Shrewsbury; 7 grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Gail was born in Worcester and is predeceased by her parents Martin and Rose (Halo) Irwin. She attended and graduated from the former Saint Peter’s High School in Worcester and later graduated summa cum laude with an associates degree from Quinsigamond Community College.
Mrs. Confer worked as a social worker for pregnant and parenting teens for many years. Gail had a true love and passion for helping other people, which was exemplified through her work in the social services field and as a foster parent for numerous years. Prior to her work in the social services field, she was a machinist for the Worcester Woven Label Company and later Artisan Label.
A large part of Gail’s life was being a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Worcester for over 40 years. She also had an affection for all animals and could often be found tending to her plants.
Burial will be held at a later date in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Memorial contributions in memory of Gail may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene 146 Burncoat Street Worcester, MA 01606 or to the MSPCA Angell 350 South Huntington Avenue Boston, MA 02130.
