New Bedford – Elsie (Pires) Garcia, age 92, of New Bedford, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018. She was the daughter of the late William and Mary Isabelle Pires and the former wife of the late Edward Arruda and Manuel Garcia.
She worked for many years at Cape Cod Venetian Blinds and left to care for her three children.
She is survived by her son, Ricardo Arruda and daughters, Joan Felix and Carol O’Shea. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Lisa Dumont, Dawn Correia, Deanna Medeiros, Dionne Arruda, Shad Sacramento and Ryan O’Shea; ten great grandchildren, Krista, Ashlee and Corey Silveira, Cassidy Medeiros, Tabitha Rogers, Shad Sacramento Jr, Richard , Brandon and Michael Dumont, Michael Arruda; as well as many great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was also the grandmother of the late LA County Deputy Sheriff Michael Arruda and sister of the late Manuel, Frank, Joseph, Louis and Mary Pires and Evelyn Santos.

Elsie’s visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 9 from 5-8 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home with a service to be held during this time.
