Richard J. Ruta, age 85, passed away on Mar 3, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Chicopee to the late John and Anna (Malinowksi) Ruta on May 2, 1932. Richard was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired as a Firefighter for the City of Chicopee and also retired from the Teamsters Local 404. He leaves his loving wife of over 50 years Carolyn (Shackett) Ruta of Chicopee; three sons Ken Cotton and his wife Vicki of Chicopee, Richard Ruta Jr. and his wife Dawn of Westfield and John Ruta and his wife Cheryl of Westfield; one daughter Barbara Lauziere and her husband Jeff of Chicopee; one sister Jane Yiznitsky of West Springfield; 7 grandchildren Charlotte Lynch, Candace Ruta, Vanessa Fitzgerald, Rachel & Alyssa Ruta, Jacob & Michael Ruta and 3 great grandchildren, Penelope, Phoenix and Ava. He was predeceased by two brothers Emil and Walter Ruta and one sister Mary Zolty. A Funeral Service will be held on Mon, Mar 12, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. from the Grise Funeral Home with a Prayer Service will take place at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Calling Hours will be held on Sun, Mar 11, 2018 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
