Dudley, MA./ Jacksonville, FL.
Barbara C. (Zukowski) Pietruszka, 93, formerly of Dudley, MA. passed peacefully at her nieces’s home in Jacksonville, FL. on February 28, 2018. She was the loving and devoted wife of our funny and beloved Uncle Joe, the Love of her Life, for 36 years, and when he passed in 1985 her life lost all its color.
She bravely moved to Jacksonville to be close to her family in 2014 and resided at Atria Park Assisted Living. Her world broadened, her circle of acquaintances grew, and she re-discovered a world of outings and activities long forgotten. She was loved by those who knew her kind disposition, her really funny sense of humor, and her complete honesty in any situation. She was fun to be with.
Barbara was a life-long member of Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, a member of the Ladies Sodality and the St. Cecelia’s Choir. She worked at the former Wajer’s Express Trucking for 33 years, retiring in 1984, and was a member of Local 170.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, brothers Joseph and Louis Zukowski, and sister Eleanor Blanchart.
Barbara is survived by her sister Sally Caldwell and many nieces and nephews.
Thank You to her old friend and neighbor Steve Piasta for keeping his promise to Uncle Joe to watch over her, he did that for over 30 years; Anna Gabor for her countless letters of news and encouragement; and Kathleen Remian for her many acts of kindness.
Barbara’s Funeral will be Wednesday, March 7, 2018 with a Mass at 10 AM at Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, 68 Lake St., Webster. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Dudley, next to her beloved husband Joe.
A Calling Hour will be from 8:30-9:30 AM, Wednesday, prior to the Funeral Mass at the ROBERT J. MILLER FUNERAL HOME and LAKE CHAPEL, 366 School St., Webster.
