Obituary

WEBSTER – Mildred T. “Millie” (Makara) Kusek, 90, died Wednesday, February 28, 2018 in Lanessa Extended Care Facility after a period of declining health. Her husband of 50 years, Frank P. Kusek, died in 2005.

She leaves a daughter, Elizabeth Murphy and her husband Dana of Charlton; a son, Peter Kusek and his wife Priscilla of Webster; 4 grandchildren, Michael Murphy and his wife Hannah, Matt Murphy, Lauren Piehl and her husband Jacob, and Nicholas Kusek; a great-grandson, Braden Murphy; a sister, Dorothy Hanc of Webster; nieces and nephews.

She was born of September 6, 1927 in Webster, the daughter of George and Mary (Kokocinski) Makara and lived here all her life. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1945.

Mrs. Kusek was the clerk for the Webster Board of Selectmen for over 20 years before she retired in 1992.

She was a communicant of Saint Joseph Basilica and a member of its Holy Rosary Sodality. She was also active on the Democratic Town Committee for many years.

An experienced golfer, Millie belonged to the former Nichols Golf Club. She also bowled in leagues at the Mohegan Bowl-A-Drome. She enjoyed spending summers at the camp on Webster Lake, with her family.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, March 6, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. Visiting hours will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 Tuesday morning in the funeral home, prior to the Mass. Donations in her name may be made to either St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, or to the Residents’ Fund at Lanessa Extended Care, 751 School St., both in Webster, MA 01570. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street.
