Worcester – Claire D. (Laurence) Roy, 97, of Worcester and formerly of Holden died on Thursday, February 8th in the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center.
Claire is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Anthony E. Roy who died in 2012. She is survived by a son Ronald P. Roy and his wife Stacy of Goodyear, AZ; three daughters, Michele P. Roy and her significant other Leo Bullard of Worcester, MA, Jeanine M. Stern and her husband Stephen of North Haven, CT and Suzanne M. Alarie and her husband Donald of Sturbridge, MA; a sister, Jeanne Richard of Worcester; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Roy was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Joseph and Alexina (Grenier) Laurence and is predeceased by 4 brothers, Roland, Edmund, Armand and Wilfred Laurence; 3 sisters, Dora Dubuque, Loretta Bleau and Aline Sviklas and a step-brother Leon Letourneau.
Claire worked for many years in the print shop at the former Paul Revere Life Insurance Company and was a member of Saint Mary’s Church in Jefferson, MA.
Mrs. Roy was a woman of great faith and was always trying to be a better person by helping anyone that may be in need. Claire cherished the time that she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and could often be found in the kitchen either baking or cooking something to share with her family and friends. She had a large circle of close friends that was referred to as “The Club” which she had many great memories and card games.
The funeral will be held on Monday, February 12th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond Street with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in Saint Mary’s Church 114 Princeton Street Jefferson. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 9 to 10am in the funeral home on Monday, February 12th. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Inc. 69 Grove Street Worcester, MA 01605.
