Angelina T. (DeCandia) Veneto (“Lena”), 94, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2018 after a brief illness. Born in Boston to Pasquale and Maria DeCandia, Lena grew up in Roxbury. She later moved to North Quincy where she lived for more than 60 years in the home built by her husband. Most recently, Lena was a proud resident of the Fenno House in Quincy, MA.

Lena was the beloved wife of the late Michael P. Veneto, her true love with whom she shared a loving marriage that was the cornerstone of her close-knit family. She was the devoted mother of Peter M. Veneto and his wife Marti of Wollaston, MA, and Angela V. McIntire and her husband Bob of Menlo Park, CA. Lena was also the proud grandmother of six grandchildren: Angela Hopfe of Jacksonville, FL; Michele Messina of Norwell, MA; the late Michael Veneto of Jacksonville, FL; Lisa McIntire of San Francisco, CA; Emily Smith of San Jose, CA; and Ross McIntire of San Francisco, CA. Lena was also blessed with 5 great grandchildren – Ryan, Brooke, Jordan, Riley and Casey – whom she cherished dearly.
Lena is also survived by her sister and best friend Theresa Martorana and her husband Sal of Braintree, MA. She was the loving sister of her late siblings – George DeCandia, Anne Tempesta, and Frank DeCandia – and is survived by many nieces and nephews, and their families.
Lena was a dynamic, intelligent and caring woman who lived life to the fullest. She spread love and joy through her cooking and hospitality, embracing any opportunity to gather as a family. She embodied the meaning of selflessness, devotion to her family, strong faith, and an unwavering sense of independence. As the beacon of her family, Lena will be missed deeply by those who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave. in Milton, MA.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agatha Church, 432 Adams St. in Milton, MA. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester, MA.
