Iris ( Simoncini) Grimaldi

Mrs. Iris A. (Simoncini) Grimaldi, 94, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, February 2 at the Christopher House.

Iris was born in Worcester on April 9, 1923 a daughter of the late Angelo and Assunta (Marcucci) Simoncini. Loving wife of sixty-two years to the late Albert A. Grimaldi who she lost on June 15, 2007.

A lifelong resident, Iris was a graduate of Commerce High School. She worked at Worcester Mold and Plastics for many years and where she met her husband Albert.

She was a parishioner of St Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury and a former parishioner of St. Margaret Mary’s Church in Worcester. Iris belonged to Catholic Daughters of America, the Women’s Guild at St Margaret Mary’s Church, member of the church senior group, and very involved with the church supper, bingo and other church activities. She taught CCD at St Margaret Mary’s Church for several years.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda A. Grimaldi, three sons, Albert G. Grimaldi and his wife Donna, Dennis F. Grimaldi and his wife Jo-Ann, Donald A. Grimaldi and his wife Kathleen, six grandchildren, Christina McAuliffe and her husband Ed, Jennifer Staruk and her husband Phil, Anna, Albert, Francesco, and Kimberly Grimaldi; five great grandhchildren, Dillon, Keara, Gianna, Christian and David; also many nieces and nephews.

Iris was pre-deceased by her siblings, Joseph Simoncini, Elsie LaChapelle, Lena Iaconi, Mary Amoruso, Alberico Simoncini, and
Alfred Simoncini.

The Grimaldi family wishes to thank the staff at The Christopher House and the JHC Hospice for their kindness and care of their mom, Iris.

Her funeral will take place on Tuesday February 6th at FAZIO FUNERAL HOME, 9 Branch St Worcester. A funeral mass will follow at St Anne’s Church, Shrewsbury at 10:00am. Interment will be in St John’s Cemetery, Worcester . Calling hours will be Monday February 5th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm .
