Gail E. (Peterson) Bergin, 75, of Cherry Valley died Thursday, February 1st in Overlook Masonic Healthcare. She leaves her husband of 53 years, Francis A. Bergin; three sons, John Bergin and his wife, Tammy of Leicester, Daniel Bergin of Paxton and Timothy Bergin of Leicester; a daughter, Lynne Hartigan and her husband, Kevin of Worcester; a sister, Donna Zanauskas and her husband, Daniel of Auburn; three grandchildren, Erin, Liam and Emma and many nieces and nephews.
She was born in Grafton the daughter of Ernest and Helen (Werme) Peterson and graduated from Grafton High School and Worcester State Teacher’s College. Gail worked at the Caring Place Day Care at St. Joseph’s for 23 years where she was the director. She previously worked for the Worcester Public Schools as a teacher. Mrs. Bergin was a member of St. Joseph’s - St Pius X Church. Her favorite pastime was camping in Maine with her grandchildren. Spending time with her family and friends was her life.

Her funeral is Tuesday, February 6th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph’s – St. Pius X Church, 1161 Main Street, Leicester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, February 5th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
