Obituary


Worcester: Carl A. Engstrom, 72, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center University Campus. He leaves 2 daughters and their husbands- Sarah and Jack Shortell of FL and Tamara and Rick Tyler of VA; a granddaughter- Briana Tyler; several cousins and nephews including Win and Nancy Hancock. He was predeceased by a brother Paul E. Engstrom.

Carl was born in Worcester, son of the late Bror and Edna (Svenson) Engstrom. He graduated from North High School and earned his degree in engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He proudly served his country in the US Army. He worked as an Engineer for several companies. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holden and enjoyed hunting, fishing, sailing, skiing, and playing pool.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church 346 Shrewsbury St. Holden. Burial with military honors will be held on his birthday- March 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Worcester Country Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carl's memory may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Nordgren Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
