Obituary


Worcester: Marion U. (Zinkevich) Tivnan died peacefully Friday morning at the Hermitage in Worcester where she had resided since 2010.
Marion was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Peter C. and Mabel C. (McDonough) Zinkevich. She attended Ascension High School in Worcester, MA. Marion worked as a secretary for several local firms before taking a position with the Saint Vincent Hospital Medical Records Department. She was awarded a Special Commendation from Saint Vincent Hospital for making the extraordinary effort of walking more than five miles across the city during the height of the Blizzard of ‘78 in order to report for her work on second shift. After her retirement Marion did what she did best, tending to the needs of her family and friends.
Marion’s husband of 64 years, Eugene F. Tivnan, passed away in January 2017. Besides her son Eugene F. Tivnan, Jr. of Worcester; she leaves a sister Ann Marie Iaccarino of West Boylston and many nieces and nephews. A brother, Peter C. Zinkevich predeceased her.
Marion was very active in church events and sang in the choir for many years. She realized her life dream of a trip to Switzerland and of owning a home which she took extreme pride in. During life she forged and maintained lasting friendships of many years. She loved to walk, cook, read and work on intricate crewel embroidery pieces.
Calling hours at Nordgren Memorial Chapel will be on Monday, January 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. A funeral Mass in her honor will be held on Tuesday, January 30 at 11 a.m in St Joan of Arc parish.
