Obituary

Marie A. (McGillicuddy) Coyle, 89, passed away January 21st at UMass Memorial Hospital after a period of declining health.
Born in Worcester, eldest to Thomas and Agnes (Kelley) McGillicuddy, Marie remained a life long resident of the Tatnuck Square area in Worcester as well as a life long member of Christ the King Parish.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Francis W. Coyle and son Stephen J. Coyle, as well as her siblings Katherine Pendergast (Dave), Thomas “Tim” McGillicuddy, John McGillicuddy, and sister-in-law Marge Morin (Dick).
She will be sorely missed by her children Anne Kilcoyne (Tom) of Holden, Fran Coyle (Jo-Anne) of Hanson, Thomas Coyle (Karen) of Worcester, David Coyle of Tampa, FL, Mark Coyle (Kathy) of Paxton, and Elizabeth Plourde (Michael) of Worcester. In addition, she leaves 17 grandchildren, Theresa, Patti, Sean, Christopher, Shannon, Tommy, Elizabeth, Colleen, Sara, David, Julie, Kristen, Matthew, Jillian, Kara, Laura, and Kelley, all of which held a special place in her heart, and 8 great-grandchildren who always brought a smile to her face especially while visiting her summer home at Misquamicut Beach. Marie also leaves her sister-in-law Joan McGillicuddy of Fairfield, CT as well as many nieces and nephews that thought of her as a second mother. Marie was a graduate of Classical High School, Framingham State College, and Worcester State College. She devoted her life to teaching and retired in 1993 from David Prouty High School in Spencer after 23 years of dedication and fulfillment.
Her funeral is Saturday, January 27th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, January 26th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
