Phyllis K. (Joiner) Matarozzo, 83, of Derry, NH, passed away suddenly, Friday January 5, 2018, at Parkland Medical Center in Derry. Mrs. Matarozzo was born in Lynn, MA on March 1, 1933, a daughter of the late Walter and Agnes (Herlihy) Joiner. Phyllis was a graduate of Ste. Chretienne Academy in Salem, MA, Class of 1951.
Mrs. Matarozzo had been employed for many years as a typesetter at the Derry News. She and her husband Joseph, owned and operated Matarozzo Greenhouses in Derry. Phyllis enjoyed art especially painting. She had an affinity for wolves. She was a longtime communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish of Derry.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Joseph Matarozzo of Derry; three sons and their wives, Joseph Matarozzo and his wife Irene of Derry, Peter Matarozzo and his wife Dianne of Londonderry, Daniel Matarozzo and his wife Cathy, of Derry; seven grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, from 4 – 7 pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, January 10th at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Avenue, Derry, NH. The burial was held in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry.
