Funeral services for Mr. Collie Anderson Burdett, 98, of Sycamore, GA will be held at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Perry Funeral Chapel. Mr. Burdett passed away Saturday at his residence following an extended illness. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn.
The son of the late Collie Anderson and Maybell Beard Burdett, Sr., he was born in Turner County, GA where he has resided all his life. Mr. Burdett was a long time faithful member of Sycamore Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a retired farmer, carpenter, and school bus driver for the Turner County Board of Education. He was also a Mason and past Master Mason with Sycamore Lodge #210, a Shriner with the Hasan Temple in Albany, GA and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Elmer Burdett, Grady Burdett, Oren Burdett and Henry Burdett, Leona B. Ireland, Emma Lou Burdett, Velma Burdett and Ester B. Engerbresten. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 78 years, Hortense Ireland Burdett of Sycamore; his daughters, Margie B. (Richard) Arrington of Ashburn and Peggy B. Ingle of Marietta; his grandchildren, Brad Ingle, Brent Ingle, April Arrington, Dawn Arrington and David C. Arrington. His great grandchildren, Richard Arrington, Conrad Arrington, Samantha Choiniere, Hannah Gash, Brett Gash, Brandi Ingle, Glenna Ingle and Destiny Arrington. He is also survived by ten great great grandchildren and a sister, Cleo B. Beasley, Ty Ty, GA. The family will receive friends, Wednesday from 1:15 PM until 2:15 PM at Perry Funeral Chapel. | ||||
