Obituary

Francis Patrick Reidy, 90, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth C. “Betty” (Shaughnessy) Reidy. Frank is survived by their seven children, Susan O’Neil and her husband, Michael of Worcester, Francis Reidy and his wife, Pong of Niceville, FL, James Reidy and his wife, Wendy of Concord, NH, David Reidy of Worcester, Andrew Reidy and his wife, Sari of McLean, VA, Matthew Reidy and his wife, Joann of Worcester, Mary Doheny and her husband, Matthew of Watertown, NY. He was grandfather to Michael O’Neil, Jr. and his wife, Katrina, Beth O’Neil, Kathleen O’Neil, Joseph Reidy, Thomas Reidy, Sean Reidy, Taylor Reidy, Erin Reidy, Matthew Reidy, Emily Reidy, Tyler Clark, Anna Reidy, Maria Reidy, Christopher Reidy, Catherine Reidy and Declan Doheny; and great-grandfather to Tadhg and Liv O’Neil. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and good friends. He was predeceased by his brother John and sister Catherine.

Frank was born in Worcester, the son of John and Mary (Kett) Reidy. He graduated from St. Peter’s High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve during WW II. After the war he graduated from the University of Vermont and later earned a master’s degree from Worcester State College. Frank was a food broker ending his career as a co-owner of Ted Edwards and Associates in the Boston area. Frank coached teams for the Ted Williams Little League and was an active member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish. He thoroughly enjoyed vacations in Maine, family celebrations, and golf with friends. His dog Molly was always at his side.

The family is grateful to all those who supported and cared for Frank allowing him to remain in his home.

His funeral is Friday, December 29th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, December 28th, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pernet Family Health Center, 237 Millbury Street, Worcester, MA 01610 or the Mercy Centre Adult Services, 25 West Chester Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
