Obituary

SPENCER: Mary A. (Murphy) McDonough 98, formerly of 43 Lincoln St., died Christmas Day in Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester.
Her husband, Edward R. McDonough, died in 1996. She leaves her daughters, Ann C. McDonough of Medway, Patricia J. Bergan and her husband John, Ellen B. Donahue and her husband Michael all of Shrewsbury, 11 grandchildren: Michael, Daniel, Bridget and Christopher Bergan, James, Brendan and Joseph Donahue, Peter, Thomas, and Kevin McDonough and Mary-Ellen Wilczynski, 5 great grandchildren: Conor, Rory, Emanuelle, Jackson, Daniel and Karina, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sons Michael McDonough and Peter McDonough, grandson Matthew Bergan, sister Dorothy Zoeller and brother Thomas Murphy.
Mary was born in Worcester, the daughter of Albert J. and Anna (Pyne) Murphy and later graduated from South High and earned a Bachelor and Master's Degrees from Worcester State Teachers College. She began her career as a school teacher in the Spencer School System and later taught in Leicester for 24 years, before retiring in 1979.
She was a member of Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish. She enjoyed spending vacations at Moody Beach, ME., reading and especially time with family.
Mary's funeral will be held on Thursday, Dec. 28 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. A calling hour will precede the services on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
