Obituary

LEICESTER: Dorothy L. (Thivierge) Toomey 100, formerly of 5 Carleton Rd. in the Rochdale section of Leicester, died Saturday, Dec. 23 in Homestead Hall, Worcester.
She was the wife of William F. Toomey who died in 1988. She leaves her daughter Ann E. Vandersluis and her husband John of Mendon, her son James W. Toomey and his wife Nancy of Rutland, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters Irene Butterworth, Marjorie Thivierge and Shirley Parsons.
Born in Nashua, NH, she was the daughter of Louis and Lillian (McCabe) Thivierge and lived 65 years in Leicester. She graduated from the former Commerce High and attended Becker Junior College both in Worcester.
Dorothy was a longtime member of St. Aloysius - St. Jude Parish where she was a member of its Ladies Guild and was their "sunshine girl", sending cards to sick and shut in parishioners for 30 years. She was a member of the Leicester Woman's Club, Senior Citizens Club of Leicester and Friends of the Elders.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 27 from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Aloysius - St. Jude Church, 489 Pleasant St., Leicester. A calling hour will precede the service on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Goddard/Homestead, Inc., 1199 Main St., Worcester 01603, Notre Dame Hospice, 555 Plantation St., Worcester, 01605 or St. Aloysius - St. Jude Parish, P.O.
