John (Jack) Francis Spellman, 79, of Norwood, formerly of West Roxbury, passed away, Monday, December 18, 2017. Beloved husband of Marie E. Spellman. Loving father of Maryellen Iannibelli and her husband Jim of Stoneham, Dianne Richard and her husband Craig of Mansfield, Joseph Spellman and his wife Danielle of Mansfield. Cherished grandfather of Johnna, Jack, Emma, Juliana, John, Olivia, Lauren, and Mark. Dear brother of Maryann Boyle of East Bridgewater. Loving son-in-law of Eva Tarara of Millis. Brother-in-law of J. Richard Tarara and his wife Gina of Millis , Salvatore Tarara and his wife Barbara of Hyde Park ,Ruth Spellman of Braintree and the late Harriet A. Spellman. Son of the late Bartholomew and Katherine Spellman. Brother of the late Edward, Paul, Joseph and Bartholomew Spellman. Loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., December 28, (Thursday), at St. Mary’s Church 176 Washington Street, East Walpole, MA 02032.
Interment will be private.
John was born on March 8, 1938 in Dorchester, Massachusetts to the late Bartholomew Spellman and Katherine (Thurston) Spellman. He proudly worked thirty-six years for the Department of Public Health and served in the United States Army. He recently celebrated fifty years of marriage with the love of his life, Marie. He enjoyed jazz music, Foxwoods and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. He also enjoyed collecting memorabilia of all of his children and grandchildren’s accomplishments. He was a very proud Dad and Papa. He took great joy in using his sense of humor to provide comfort to others.
