Obituary

SPENCER: David Victor Gervais, 58, of Spencer, formerly of Uxbridge, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family after an illness, Saturday, Dec. 9.

He leaves his wife of 36 years; Susan R (Beando) Gervais, daughters; Jessica R (Gervais) Leonard and Ashley M Gervais, grandchildren; Leah, Kolton and Jaxon Leonard, dogs; Maggi and Baxter, and many beloved friends and family.

Son of Victor E and Beatrice (Beaucage) Gervais, nephew of Bella Baker, David was born in Milford and graduated from Uxbridge High School in 1977. He attended Framingham State and interned at MA State House. He made an impact on many lives, dedicating his own to helping people. He was the youngest elected official; to Uxbridge Board of Health at 18. He served Uxbridge Fire Department and was an EMT. In 1984, he received the John O. Tate Community Service Award for saving a woman’s life. He was a Special State Police Officer at Saint Vincent Hospital for 34 years. He was an adored Meals on Wheels site manager at Howe Village in Spencer and a case worker for Tri-Valley Elder Services for many years. He was a coach for his daughters’ sports teams. He belonged to Knights of Columbus, Council 118.

He enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandchildren, family and friends, boating, fishing, antiques and camp fires.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Dec. 21 from J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church Street, Spencer. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Uxbridge. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 PM.
