Obituary



Artiom “Tom” Gretsky, a Registered Nurse at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital and a dedicated Sargent in the United States Marine Corp passed away suddenly on December 12, 2017 at the age of 32.

Tom, affectionately known as “Gretsky”, is survived by his wife, Jillian (Butler); his children Amiliya, Fenway and Daelyn; His father Gennady Gretsky of Russia; His brothers Alex and Edward. He is predeceased by his mother, Larissa Sergeyeva and his son, Maxsen; Other family members include Louise Loring, Jo Loring, Nancy Langman, Jack and Donna Kane, Laurel Butler, Derek Martin and Mark Dempsey.

Tom was born in the Ukraine on August 2, 1985 and immigrated to the United States when he was young. He entered the Marine Corp in 2005 and served two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. After being honorably discharged in 2013, he entered UMass to pursue a degree in Nursing while working full time. He earned his RN and began working at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth where he was admired and respected by all with whom he worked.
As much as he loved being a nurse, he cherished his role as a father and husband above all. His girls brought a smile to his face as he did to theirs. The family recently spent a memorable trip in Disney World together. He was an intellectual man, loved history, science and loved to play the piano and soccer. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, fellow Marines and all who knew him.

Visiting hours are will be held on Sunday, December 17th from 2-6:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) KINGSTON. Full Military honors will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.
