Obituary

WORCESTER-Alice V. (Moncrief) McKeon, 101, died Monday, December 11, 2017 at Christopher House of Worcester. Her beloved husband of 61 years, William J. McKeon "Mike" predeceased her on October 17, 1989. She is survived by a son, James W. McKeon and his wife Suzanne of Rutland, MA; two daughters, Mary E. O’Connell and her husband Edward of Worcester and Kathleen A. Grimley and her husband Richard of Rutland, VT; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, a step granddaughter and three nieces. She was predeceased by her three siblings, Katherine Greco, Pauline Bullard and Paul “Buddy” Moncrief.

She was born in Providence, RI, daughter of James H. and Elizabeth G. (O’Callahan) Moncrief and graduated from South High School. Alice and William married in 1937 and started their family. Throughout the years, she became an accomplished sewer, creating beautiful clothing and drapery, and she also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Baking was another specialty, always having cookies and pies for everyone to enjoy. After raising her children, she went to work in the housekeeping department at Worcester State Hospital, retiring as head of the department after many years. Mrs. McKeon was a longtime member of Christ the King Church and an active member of the Holden Senior Center.

The family would like to thank Tatnuck Park and Christopher House for the excellent care they provided to Alice.

Funeral Mass and burial will be private and are in the care of Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester.
