Mary C. McLaughlin, age 71, of Quincy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Wingate at Sharon.
Born in Boston, MA on March 16, 1946, she was a loving daughter of the late Daniel P. and Ruth M. (Arris) McLaughlin.
Mary grew up in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston and was educated in Boston Public Schools. She later returned to school and was a graduate of UMASS in Boston.
Mary had worked as an administrative assistant in the Astrophysics Lab at Harvard University. She had made her home in Quincy for over thirty years and previously resided in Dorchester.
For many years, prior to their deaths, Mary served as a loving caregiver to both her mother and sister. She enjoyed traveling, along with her mother to many parts of the United States and Europe, and for most of her life, was an animal advocate and treasured her pet dogs and cats.
She was the devoted sister of Daniel P. McLaughlin and his wife Carol of Norton and the late Ellen D. McLaughlin. She was the adoring aunt of Daniel, Devon and Cailin.
Burial will be held privately at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Roxbury.
Visiting hours are omitted and those wishing may remember Mary with a donation in her memory made to one’s local animal shelter.
