William L. Bishop, age 81, of Plainville, formerly of Norton, passed away surrounded by his adoring family, in the comfort of his home on Saturday, November 18, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Paula R. (Yelle) Bishop, to whom he was wed on November 30, 1957.

Born in North Attleboro, MA on August 23, 1936, he was a loving son of the late Levi W. Levesque and Doris A. (Mondor) Bishop.

Bill grew up in North Attleboro and attended St. Mary’s School and North Attleboro High School. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Naval Reserve, and later was a graduate of the Massachusetts School of Barbering.

For over twenty-five years, Mr. Bishop had worked at the former Texas Instruments in Attleboro, retiring with the position of a group leader, and previously worked as a skilled stone setter and engraver.

Bill had made his home in Plainville for the past fourteen years and treasured the many wonderful winter months spent in Fort Meyers, Florida and the summer months on Cape Cod in Dennis.

Mr. Bishop loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed attending the annual Kyle Bishop Memorial Golf Tournament, in memory of his deceased grandson. He was very meticulous and detail orientated, as it showed in the appearance of his home, cars and garden. Bill was also an avid and faithful New England sports fan.

In addition to his beloved wife of sixty years, he is survived by his devoted children Dale W. Bishop and his wife Vel of Norton, David A. Bishop of Norton, Steven P. Bishop of Norton, and Linda G. Johansson and her husband Bruce of Waterville Valley, New Hampshire. He was the dear brother of Adele Thimot of North Attleboro and Alma MacDougald of California. He is also survived by his cherished 11 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, as well as several generations of nieces and nephews.

His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, November 25th at 6:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will be held privately at a later date at the Norton Common Cemetery in Norton.

Visitation will be held prior to the services on Saturday beginning at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Bills family has requested and would prefer that donations in his memory be made to the Kyle Bishop Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1343, Mansfield, MA 02048.
