Auburn: Mary P. Murphy, 95, formerly of Worcester, died at Life Care Center of Auburn on Sunday, November 5, 2017. She was born in Worcester, November 30, 1921, daughter of the late H. Frederick and Catherine (Flynn) Murphy. She attended Notre Dame Academy, Hingham, MA and graduated through the night program at the former Commerce High School in Worcester. She spent her happiest years working for the Shea family on Burncoat Street, helping to raise their seven children. In her later years, she enjoyed spending holidays with their extended family.
Mary was predeceased by her brother, Robert P. Murphy in 2002. She is survived by a sister-in-law, F. Patricia Murphy of Worcester, a nephew, Robert P. Murphy, Jr. of New Hampshire, a niece, Carol Ann Wilcock of Connecticut, a great nephew Michael Murphy and his wife Dominique of New Hampshire; their children, Jackson and Lincoln Murphy; three great nieces, Mary Kate Murphy and her husband Pradeep Mammen; their daughter, Simone, Elizabeth Ferris currently serving in Kuwait, Catherine Ferris and her husband Michael Schilling of Connecticut, several friends, and the entire Shea family.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church 570 Lincoln St. Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to New England Hospice 190 Old Derby Street Suite 304 Hingham, MA 02043.
