Obituary



Ellen L. (Daly) Dolan passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by loving family at the age of 95 on October 29, 2017. Her husband, Arthur J. Dolan, Sr. died in 1979. She is survived by four children: Arthur Dolan of Worcester; Dennis Dolan and his wife, Carol of London, Ontario; Kevin Dolan and his wife, Martha of Worcester; and Kathleen Daigle and her husband, Ken of Holden; her son-in-law James O’Rourke; and her sister, Rita Goulet and her husband, Bob of Framingham. She also leaves fourteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two children, Maryellen O’Rourke and Stephen Dolan; and her siblings, Annie, Margaret, John, George, Bill, Andrew and Edmund
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Ellen and William Daly and graduated from the former High School of Commerce. She worked at the Belmont Home for twenty years as a nurse's aide and activities coordinator. She took loving care of the residents, many times inviting them to her home for holiday meals.
Ellen was deeply devoted to her faith. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and frequently attended adoration devotion at St. Mary's Church in Spencer. Ellen remained active well into her eighties and was an avid walker whether it be at Hampton Beach or the Auburn Mall. She was a loyal member of the YWCA. Her true joy was Sunday morning and holiday gatherings in her home, where she brought her children and grandchildren together, giving them memories that they will always cherish. Ellen will always be lovingly remembered by family and friends for her fierce determination and wit.
Ellen's family would like to express deep gratitude to the staff of Overlook in Charlton for their compassionate and loving care.
Her funeral is Thursday, November 2nd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 AM in the funeral home prior to her funeral Mass.
