CHICOPEE – Albert J. LaBrie, 91, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, October 27, 2017. He passed into Eternal Life at the Loomis House in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home on Naomi Street in Aldenville on April 9, 1926, a beloved son of the late Joseph and Albertine (Bisson) LaBrie. He was raised in Aldenville, graduated from the former Chicopee Trade High School and was a lifelong resident of Aldenville. He served his country during World War II in the United States Marine Corps and attained the rank of Corporal. He served in the Palau Islands; Sasebo, Kyushu, Japan; and Tsingtao, China. He was employed for 37 years as a Maintenance Supervisor at the former Fisk Tire and Rubber Company that later became Uniroyal. When the plant closed in Chicopee, he went to work as a Maintenance Supervisor at Sunshine Village in Chicopee. He was a member of the Ashfield Rod and Gun Club, the American Legion Post 337 and the China Marines Association. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Most of all, he was a gentle man who loved his family and his many friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Lorraine D. (Pelletier) LaBrie who was Called Home on January 27, 2013. They were married on May 14, 1949 at the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 63 years of happiness together. He leaves his loving children, Alfred J. “Fred” LaBrie and his wife, Lynn, Carol A. LaBrie and her husband, Philip A. Myers, Lawrence A. LaBrie and his wife, Louise, and Lisa M. LaBrie and her fiancé, Michael Lively, all of Chicopee; his seven cherished grandchildren, Jeffrey Vermette and his wife, Jennifer, Kevin Vermette, James Vermette and his wife, Tara, Craig LaBrie and his wife, Jessica, Scott LaBrie, Brianna Gardiner and Brooke Gardiner; his five cherished great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jonathan Vermette, Olivia Vermette and Samuel and Emilie LaBrie; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended members of the LaBrie and Pelletier families. Besides his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his three dear brothers and their wives, Omer LaBrie and his wife, Marion, Marcel J. P. LaBrie and his wife, Freda, and Roger E. LaBrie and his wife, Louise. His funeral will be held on Saturday morning, November 4, 2017 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. United States Marine Corps Military Honors will follow the Mass in Church. His burial will be private at the convenience of the family at Sainte Rose Cemetery, Chicopee. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
