David C. Gallant

CHICOPEE – David C. Gallant, 74, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, October 27, 2017. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on February 10, 1943, a beloved son of the late Norman L. and Germaine M. (Levesque) Gallant. He was raised and schooled in Holyoke and lived there for many years before moving to Chicopee in 2003. He was employed as a tool and die maker for 43 years at Acme Chain now US Tsubaki in Holyoke. During his leisure time, David enjoyed fishing and especially enjoyed golfing with his buddy, Bob Shea at the East Mountain Country Club in Westfield. He also enjoyed playing cards and Aggravation with Bob and Linda Shea and John and Ellen Garczynski. He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke and a member of Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus in Chicopee. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Patricia A. (Laplante) Gallant. They were married on October 2, 1965 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 52 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving children, Todd M. Gallant and his wife, Willow, of Chicopee and Tricia A. Barnard and her husband, Nathan, of Westfield; his five cherished grandchildren, Robert Ishmael Davis, Faith M. Gallant, Ethan D. J. Gallant, Austin M. Barnard and Payton E. Barnard; his dear sister, Doraleen Bovat and her husband, Paul, of Westfield; his dear mother-in-law, Rachel M. (Jones) Laplante of Chicopee; his dear sisters-in-law, Betty M. Larson of Macks Creek, MO, and Eileen F. Guillmette and her husband, David, of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended members of the Gallant and Laplante families. In addition, David leaves his best friend who was like his brother, John Garczynski and his wife, Ellen, of South Deerfield and Bob Shea and his wife, Linda, of Holyoke. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear father-in-law, Philip Laplante and his dear brother-in-law, David Larson. His relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 3:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family has requested that flowers be omitted and memorial donations be made in his memory to Holyoke VNA and Hospice Life Care, 575 Beech Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
