Gerald R. "Gerry" Davignon

CHICOPEE – Gerald R. “Gerry” Davignon, 73, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, October 20, 2017. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on August 18, 1944, the beloved son of the late Roland and Rollande (Toussaint) Davignon. He was raised in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and moved to Willimansett in 1979 where he lived the remainder of his life. He furthered his education and received an Associate’s Degree from Holyoke Community College. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Marine Corps and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was employed as a salesman for Ivey Industries in Springfield and previously was a Vice President of Merriam Graves Medical Equipment in West Springfield. He was a communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee. He was a member of the Amvets, the American Legion and the Moose Family Center. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Dorothy L. (Campbell) Davignon. They were married on Independence Day, July 4, 1965 at the United States Naval Station in Boston and were blessed with over 52 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving children, Gayle M. Davignon and her partner, Michael Poth, Kathryn L. Pabon and her husband, Alexander Pabon, Sr., and Gerald R. Davignon, Jr.; his six cherished grandchildren, Mark Dion, Jr. and his wife, Amanda, Corey Koske and his partner, Morgan Bassett, Sara Koske, twins Stephanie and Andrew Minkos, and Alexander Pabon, Jr.; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Davignon and Campbell families. His Funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, October 25, 2017 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 56 Saint Anthony Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. His Burial with United States Marine Corps Military Honors will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located at the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
