Jeanne A. (Laramee) Jacquel

CHICOPEE – Jeanne A. (Laramee) Jacquel, 97, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, October 19, 2017. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on January 26, 1920, a beloved daughter of the late Louis A. and Anna (Bail) Laramee. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Mount Carmel High School in Chicopee and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. She was employed as a bookkeeper and had worked at Williams Fuel Oil in Stafford Springs, CT and previously worked at Allstate Fire Sprinkler in Hartford, CT and Baystate Moving Systems in Windsor, CT. Possessing a sterling work ethic, Jeanne often held up to three jobs at a time, working non-stop from the age of 16 to 96. She was the strongest person her family ever knew! She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee where she was also a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality for over 50 years. She also was a member of the Franco-American Women’s Association. Her passion was traveling and there were few places one could mention that she had not visited with her best friend and travelling companion, Elizabeth Schofield of South Hadley. Always meticulously and fashionably dressed, she was the original “Fashionista”. She and her late husband, Serge were expert dance partners and often the last to leave the dance floor. She loved spending time with her family and showered each member with her love and generosity. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Serge E. Jacquel who was Called Home on April 29, 1990. They were married on February 14. 1942 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 48 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving children, Constance A. Houle and her husband, Leonard, and Thomas L. Jacquel and his wife, Marguerite, all of Westfield; her six cherished grandchildren, Thomas and Timothy Houle, Karen Boisjolie, Jennifer Hale, Matthew Jacquel and his wife, Amy Clark, and Julie Fregeau and her husband, Mathew; her five cherished great-grandchildren, Taylor Boisjolie, Amanda and Jonathon Hale, and Isabelle and Samantha Fregeau; her cherished great-great-grandson, Noah Diaz; and her best friend, Elizabeth Schofield. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her two dear brothers, Thomas Laramee and his wife, Phyllis, and Hervey Laramee; and her dear sister, Ena Laramee. Jeanne’s family would like to extend their special thanks to her hospice nurses, Joanna and Kathy; and her aide, Soraya for their compassionate care and concern during this difficult period. Her Funeral will be held on Saturday morning, October 28, 2017 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapel, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will be open at 8:00 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located at the rear at 20 Lafayette St, Chicopee, MA 01020.
