Alves, Rev. Msgr. Joseph T. of Boston, formerly of Milton, October 17, 2017. Devoted brother of Sister Mary Ann Alves, C.S.J. of Milton and the late George M. Alves and Catherine T. Bryant. Loving uncle of Kathleen Connolly and her husband John of Braintree, Maryann Adams and her husband John of Philadelphia, Patricia Sweeney and her husband Richard of Milton, Donna Gregoire and her husband William of Plymouth, Nancy Sawicki and her husband Leonard of VA, Kevin Bryant of Weymouth, Mark Bryant and his wife Jennifer of NY, Jo Ann DeBesse and her husband Joseph of Milton, Regina Reilly and her husband Raymond Ducay of TX, Susan Rice and her husband Steven of Milton, Teresa Baker and her husband Jonathan of No. Easton, Christine Dalesandro and her husband Louis of Weymouth, Maureen Caldwell of TX, Thomas Alves of Whitman, Linda Alves and Corey Harris of Braintree and the late Jane Alves Shaw, George Alves and Mary Kavanaugh. Also survived by 45 grandnieces and nephews and 11 great grand nieces and nephews. Visiting hours at Regina Cleri Residence, 60 William Cardinal O’Connell Way, Boston, Monday, October 23rd from 2 to 4 PM. Concelebrated Funeral Mass at St. Agatha Church, 440 Adams St. at Brook Rd., Milton, Tuesday at 10 am. Msgr. Alves will lie in state at St. Agatha Church Tuesday morning prior to Mass from 8 to 10 am. Msgr. Alves lived his life for the Church and those in need. He founded, supported. and was actively involved in agencies and organizations that assisted with the burden of many. Former Executive Director of Family Counseling & Guidance Centers., Inc. and Former Pastor of St. Philip Neri church, Newton. Decorated First Lieutenant U.S. Army Air Force Pilot. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to the Monsignor Joseph T. Alves Scholarship Fund c/o Boston College, Cadigan Alumni Center, 140 Commonwealth Ave., Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.
