Obituary

QUINEBAUG , CT – Ruth (Farley) Mack, 83, died Monday, October 16, 2017 in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge. Her husband of 48 years, John J. Mack, died in 2003.

She leaves 2 daughters, Kathleen F. Chahanovich, and Barbara A. Gaudion and her husband John, all of Quinebaug; 5 grandchildren, D. Christopher, Jon, Anne, Scott and Tim; 3 great-grandchildren, Caden, Elsie and Emma; a brother-in-law, John Trainor of North Grafton, MA; a cousin, Theresa Menard of Southbridge, MA; and a longtime family friend, James C. Mack of N. Grosvenordale, CT; and several nieces and nephews.

She was born at home in Dudley, the daughter of Lawrence E. and Sophie J. ”Sally” (Pietros) Farley and had lived in Quinebaug since her marriage in 1955. She graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster in 1952 and then earned a diploma in nursing from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in 1955.

Mrs. Mack worked at the office of Dr. Charles Roy in Southbridge for many years. She then worked in various capacities, including utilization review, at Harrington Memorial Hospital before she retired.
She was a member of Saint Stephen’s Church. She enjoyed going on cruises and visiting the casino.

A memorial Mass will be held Friday, October 20, at 10:30 AM in St. Stephen’s Church, corner of Routes 131 & 197. There are no calling hours. Donations in her name may be made to the Quinebaug Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 144, Quinebaug, CT 06262-0144.Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., Webster, MA.
