Rene A. “Duke” Girard, age 87, a former resident of Peabody, died October 7, 2017 at the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home. He was the husband of Lorraine (Pinault) Girard, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Raby) Girard. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He and his beloved wife retired to Calabash, NC to golf after a career with Purity Supreme.
He is survived by his son, Kevin Girard of Newbury, NH, his daughter, Carol Brewster and her husband John of Burlington, his brother, Paul Girard of Hudson, NH. He also leaves seven grandchildren, a great-grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, George Girard of Salem.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 10:00 AM in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem, MA, to be followed by a committal service with Military Honors in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours, at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem, MA , will be on Monday the 16th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
