Barbara H. (Sanchez) Cattaneo, 83, of Worcester, also known to many as “Barbara Dear”, died Thursday, October 5th. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth C. Tantillo and her husband, Richard of Clinton, NY; two sons; Christopher L. Cattaneo and his wife, Colleen of Spencer and Dante A. Cattaneo of St. Augustine, FL; seven grandchildren, Gabrielle and Luke Tantillo, Christopher, Catrina, Anthony, Kristi-Ann and Jordon Cattaneo and three great-grandchildren, Alina, Caysen and Kingston J. Zajni; and her former husband, Donald J. Cattaneo. Her son, Matthew A. Cattaneo predeceased her .
She was born in Flushing, NY, the daughter of Robert and Helen (Butler) Sanchez. Barbara Dear was a Registered Nurse; an American Red Cross volunteer and later worked for Goretti Management as an office administrative assistant. She was a former member of St. Columba Parish and Christ the King Church. “BD” was known for her love of cooking, (especially her chocolate chip cookies), soaps, extensive travels, and family.
Her funeral is Monday, October 9th with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial services are private. There are no calling hours. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is assisting the family with arrangements.
