Obituary

James L. “Big Jim” Miller, Jr., 51, of Worcester died Saturday, September 23rd at home. He leaves his father, James L. Miller, Sr. of Ohio; two sisters, Cindy Miller of Ohio and Tracy Miller of California; two nieces, Jaslynn and Bryanna and two nephews, Patrick and David.
He was born in Hamilton, OH the son of Gloria (Smiley) Miller and graduated from the College of the Holy Cross. Jim was an accomplished athlete playing football for the Crusaders as an offensive tackle. In 2014, Mr. Miller retired from South High School where he enjoyed teaching his students about history and law, and coaching track and field and football for over 20 years. He was a mentor to many of his students over the years. Mr. Miller loved his students and was proud of the impact he made in their lives. Jim was blessed with many lifelong friends that were considered family. He was a gentle giant with an infectious smile. Mr. Miller lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed watching the New England Patriots as well as spending time hunting and fishing. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends.
A Celebration of a Big Jim’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 30th at the Union Tavern, 65 Green Street beginning with a Meet and Mingle at 5:00 PM and Tributes beginning at 6:00 PM. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions maybe made to the scholarship fund founded in Jim's name to help student's from South High School continue on with their pursuit of higher education after high school.
