Petrina M. “Trina” (Canessa) Towne, 69, of Worcester died Monday, September 4th in St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her family. Her husband, Carl W. Towne died in 1999. She leaves three daughters, Dawn-Marie Placentino-Olen and her husband, David of Holden, Susan Damron and her husband, Emory of Alexandria, VA and Karla R. Towne-Gardella and her husband, Daniel of Worcester; a sister, Linda Lozier of Melbourne, FL; two brothers, John Francis “Frank” Canessa, Jr. of MA and her twin, Peter Canessa and his wife, Paula of Wells, ME; a grandson, Joshua Carl Towne and his significant other, Kristen Schram of Worcester; and her dog, Candigirl. She also leaves Lori Facteau and Renee Falvo who were like daughters to her, many nieces, nephews and extended family including Amy Auger and Eugenia Perley. She was predeceased by five sisters, Frances Canessa, Natalie Bowers, Lorraine Amer, Virginia Antonelli and Inez Gulezian.
She was born in Cambridge the daughter of John F. Canessa, Sr. and Inez (Smith) Canessa and graduated from Ayer High School. Trina worked for Killeen Machine Tool & Die for 30 years as a welder, retiring in 2004. She enjoyed spending time at Hampton Beach, decorating cakes and playing board games. She loved to dance and her favorite pastime was taking long rides with her husband and spending time with her family and friends. Trina was a social butterfly who was well known in her neighborhood as “Ma” or “Gram”.
Her funeral is Saturday, September 9th with a service at 10:00 AM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum. Calling hours are Friday, September 8th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
