Obituary

Michael Kent Troutner's sunrise began in Indiana on April 2nd, 1951. He is the eldest son of the late Doris Day Shoup and the late Donald Troutner, Sr.

Michael grew up on North Carolina. He went into the Marine Corps in 1968. He served in two wars as First Lieutenant Gunnery Tankers. He transitioned back into civilian life in 1986, after 18 1/2 years.

Michael was very active in his community. He co-founded Fire House Goodies with his wife of 22 years, Bernice Rivera Troutner, where they cooked together and fed firefighters for free after December 3rd, 1999. This they did in memory of the Worcester 6, in the name of Carmen and Rafael Rivera, Bernice's parents.

Michael played Santa Claus for years in his community until December 2016. He was also an exterior/interior house painter as well as a culinary chef.

He is a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather. Michael was predeceased by his mother, Doris Day Shoup and father, Donald Troutner, Sr.; his brother, Jimmy; and sisters, Liz and Cathy.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice; his children: John Edward, Kimberly, Gary, Rory Ian and Monica Therese; his eleven grandchildren: Avery, Jacob, Rachel, Brianna, Jordan, Annabelle, Tervone Alfonso, Cylis Lorenz, Ian Blake, Sarai Elizabeth and Bernice Ava Linda; one brother-in-law, Tony; five sisters-in-law: Myrna, Betty, Beatrice, Maritza and Sylvia; and a slew of nieces and nephews which are too many to mention; and, all his friends.

Michael had an extremely generous heart and so much love he has given to all! He will be sorely missed as he goes on to his glory.
