Obituary

Worcester-Valerie A. (Rassias) Ptohos, 74, a proud life long resident of the Worcester Greek community passed away Sunday, August 27 in Saint Vincent Hospital after a short illness.

She would have celebrated her 42 wedding anniversary with her loving husband, Dimitrios K. Ptohos on August 28. She also leaves a son, Constantine Ptohos and his wife, Erica of Brooklyn, NY; a brother, John Rassias and his wife, Cecily of Westport, CT; a sister, Demetra Blake of Worcester; the joy of her life, her two grandchildren, Maxwell and Bowie, and nieces and nephews. A brother, Charles Rassias predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Nicholas and Angelika (Tsangarelis) Rassias and graduated from North High School.

Valerie was a medical secretary for many years for Fallon Clinic before retiring. She was a lifetime member of Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Valerie had a well honed sense of humor and was an incredible mother and loving wife. She brought joy to the lives of those closest to her. She was active in the Worcester area Multiple Sclerosis support groups.

The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at St. Vincent Hospital for the wonderful care they provided her.

A Visiting Hour will be held Tuesday, September 5 from 10:00 to 11:00AM in Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00AM in the Cathedral. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral or to the National MS Society, PO Box 541617, Waltham, 02454.
