LEICESTER; Carol A. (Oliver) McClain 74, who was residing in Leicester and was formerly of Shirley, MA and Sarasota, Fl, passed away peacefully, Thursday, August 17 at UMass Memorial Hospital Lake Ave. with her family by her side.
Carol was born and raised in Shirley, the daughter of Raymond A. & Anna B. (Cote) Oliver, then moving to Lunenburg, MA and then to Sarasota, FL.
She was affectionately called "Granny" by those who knew her and loved her. She was a wonderful, loving, caring and beautiful wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Granny is survived by her sister, Margaret Haley, her brothers, Frank and Raymond Oliver, her children and grandchildren; George Holbein and his sons, Matthew and Christopher of Parrish, Florida, her son, Richard Holbein and his wife Maria and their son, Levi of Winston-Salem, NC, her daughter, Mary DeBlois, and her husband, James and their children, Shanna and Tasha of Fitchburg and Leicester, and her daughter, Dorothy Gerber and her children, Nicholas and Victoria of Winter Garden, FL., her step-daughter, Christine Giguere and her husband Paul and daughters, Alyssa and Ashley, her step-son, Peter McClain, Jr., and she was blessed with six great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Kiana, Kayla, Trent, Jayden and Thomas. She was predeceased by her loving husband Peter McClain, Sr. and a grandson Jason.
There will be a Memorial Service in her memory Saturday, September 16th at 11 A.M. at The Manor, 42 West Boylston St., West Boylston, MA 01583. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations sent in memory of Granny to, Give Kids the World Village, 210 So. Bass Rd., Kissimmee, FL, 34746.
