Obituary



Michael J. McGinn, 59, of Worcester died Tuesday, August 1st at home surrounded by his loving family and his cat, Stanley. He leaves his fiancée and companion of 33 years, Catherine M. Harry; his mother, Lillian B. (Griffin) McGinn of Worcester; two brothers, Thomas McGinn, III and his wife, Ellen of Severna Park, MD and Neil McGinn and his wife, Kathleen of Holden; three sisters, Mary Cronin and her husband, John of Worcester, Anne Tangney and her husband, Brian of Holden and Clare Snay and her husband, Dave of West Boylston; his fake brother in law, George Harry of Worcester, many nieces, nephews, extended family and loving friends. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas J. McGinn, Jr. and his brother, Joseph McGinn.
He was born in Worcester and graduated from St. Peter's High School and attended Emerson College. Michael worked for the City of Worcester and the Worcester School Department for several years. He was a passionate Bruins fans. Mr. McGinn’s favorite pastimes were fishing and spending time at the beach, particularly Point Judith, Rhode Island.
The family would like to thank the staff of Salmon VNA, Worcester Physical Therapy, St. Vincent’s Cancer Center and Dr. Kern Bayard for the compassion and care Michael received during his illness.
His funeral is Saturday, August 5th with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street (Please go directly to church). Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Friday, August 4th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
