LEICESTER: Nancy M. (Lavelle) Clark, 79, of the Rochdale section of Leicester died peacefully Saturday, July 15 in Saint Vincent Hospital, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
She leaves her husband of 57 years, John F. Clark; three daughters: Christine M. McKernan and her husband Mark, of Sterling, Kathleen A. Moriarty and her husband Mark, of Leicester, and Lynn A. Clark and her husband Joe Shapiro, of Boston; 8 grandchildren: Kyle, Ryan & Hayley McKernan, Brian Moriarty and his wife Cassie, Michael Moriarty and his wife Katelyn, Kevin Moriarty, Kelly Moriarty, and Anna Shapiro; 5 great-grandchildren: Connor, Kaylie, Ava, Sophia, and Molly. She was pre-deceased by her brother Brian Lavelle and her sister Rosemary Boots.
Nancy was born in Holyoke, daughter of Patrick and Rose (Garvey) Lavelle. She dedicated her career to working with underprivileged children as a teaching assistant with the Sisters of St. Joseph in Holyoke and as a special education assistant and computer teaching assistant in the Holyoke Public Schools. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and reading. Nancy was happiest spending time with her beloved family.
A Celebration of Nancy's life will be held at a future date to be announced.
