Obituary

Worcester – Carol Jeanne (Graton) Cantwell, 81, of Worcester, died peacefully on Sunday, July 2nd in her home with her family by her side.

Carol was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Burton F. and Ida E. (Dion) Graton and is also predeceased by two sisters, Beverly Gosselin and Lorraine Perron.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Roderick J. Cantwell; her children, Claire Chiofar and her husband Rocky of Winter Haven, FL; Michael Cantwell and his wife Susan of Allen, TX; Linda Young and her husband Howard of High River, Alberta,Canada; her grandchildren are, Susie Roy and her Husband Mike of FL.; Nicholas McLaren of Murrieta, CA; Sarah and Emily Cantwell of TX; Ariel, Jessica, Natty, and Kale Young of Canada; her great grandchildren are Andrew, Ryan, Haylee and Hannah. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Carol was attended in passing by granddaughter Susie, Claire, Mike and Linda. Susie was the loving Angel as she helped her grandmother cope with the pain at the end.
Carol was a charcoal artist of considerable talent. She did superb cross stitch work such as Renoir Paintings. Carol attained the rank of Curved Bar in the Girl Scouts, a rank equal to the Eagle Scout Award her Son Michael attained. Carol was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church.

She was always proud that her first date with Rod was babysitting the children of Bob and Missy Cousy on New Years Eve 1954 with all the Boston Celtics assembling to celebrate the New Years.
Carol was a graduate of Holy Name High School. She foster cared for 15 Catholic Charity new born Babies. She loved each child as if they were her own. She worked as a nurse’s Aide for 10 years at Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester, MA.
She was a machine operator at National Envelope Co. for 12 years. She was an owner of Cantwell Sheet Metal Co, an HVAC sub-contracting firm.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, August 5th at 12:30 PM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main St. Worcester. Please – no flowers as Carol believed in helping feed the hungry so Memorial contributions in memory of Carol may be made to Jeremiah’s Inn, 1059 Main Street Worcester, MA 01603.
