WORCESTER___Josephine "Irene" (Simarano) Chartier, 89, of Worcester passed away on May 22, 2017 at Brookside Rehab and Healthcare Center, Webster. Her husband, Robert G. Chartier passed in 1989.
She is survived by her son Arthur Chartier and his wife Jennifer of Douglas; her daughters Francine Pride-Briggs and her husband Arthur, and Patricia Whittemore all of Worcester; sister Anna Riel of Auburn; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by brothers Vincent, Maurice, Rocco and Ricado Simarano and sisters Mary Dube and Philomena Confer. She was born in Worcester a daughter of Piedro and Francesca (Diminico) Simarano.
Mrs. Chartier retired from Providence House Nursing Home after working many years as a nursing assistant. She was a proud Italian mother who enjoyed her family. She loved Italian music and playing bingo.
The funeral will be held on Thursday May 25, 2017 with a service at 11 a.m. in St. John's Cemetery Mausoleum. Burial will be private. DIRSA - MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street is assisting the family with arrangements.
