Obituary

SOUTHBRIDGE – Zenon Darmetko, 60, died Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Brookside Nursing and Rehab after a long battle with cancer.

He leaves his mother, Halina Darmetko of Dudley; 3 sisters, his care giver, Malgorzata and her husband Jan Sudyka of Dudley, Halina and her husband Franciszek Arendarczyk of Worcester, Barbara and her husband Andrzej Kossakowski of Woznice Poland; a brother, Zbigniew and his wife Janina Darmetko of Katy, Poland; 2 nieces, Joanna Sudyka and Jessica Sudyka of Dudley; several nephews and nieces in Poland.

He was born in Kolno, and raised in Katy, Poland, a son of Piotr Darmetko. He completed technical high school in Poland. He immigrated to the United States in 1999.

Mr. Darmetko worked as an auto body mechanic first at JK Auto body in Webster, International Auto Body, Ziggy’s Auto and finally at 4 P’s Auto Body all of Dudley. He retired due to illness.

He was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica. He enjoyed fishing and working on cars. He was building a wind turbine. He loved philosophy.

The funeral will be held Saturday, May 6, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. Calling hours will be Friday, May 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
