Auburn - Richard I. Smith, 48, died Monday, May 1, 2017 peacefully at home.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lila Kate Smith; children, Alexis, Anthony and Samantha Smith, his mother, Donna Rolfsman, stepmother, Linda Smith; his brother, Brian Smith and wife Lisa, his sisters, Diane Smith and Melissa Scola with husband Anthony; several nieces, Stephanie Smith, Julieanna Mastroianni, Alyssa Smith, Toni Scola, Haley Scola and great nephew Jackson Prince. He was preceded in death by his father Robert G. Smith.
He was a compassionate person who took much pride in raising numerous foster children over the last twenty years, including Scotty, Jose, Brandon, Chris, John and many others. He enjoyed sipping coffee with his adored dog Kylie, who stayed by his side through this long battle with cancer. He had a very kind heart and quick wit and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
