Billerica - Maria F. (Bulzone) Toscano, age 95, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 14, at the Lahey
Clinic Medical Center in Burlington after a brief illness. For 62 years, she was the wife of
Giuseppe D. Toscano, who died in 1997.
She was born in Sperlonga, Italy, on February 10, 1910. She was raised in Italy, and emigrated to
the United States in 1955. She resided in Medford before moving to Billerica in 2003.
In her earlier years, she was a member of the Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary order in Italy.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dionisio “Dennis” Toscano of Billerica,
Antonio “Tony” Toscano and his wife Shirley (Santomen) of Hampstead, NH, Vincenzo Toscano
and his wife Nancy (DeVinnie) of Pittsford, NY, Joan (Antonelli-Sullivan) Toscano of
Tewksbury; a daughter and son-in-law, Anna Tosto and her husband Alfonso “Thomas” of
Windham, NH; ten grandchildren, Paula Ericsson, Robert Sullivan, Dario and Deana Toscano all
of Billerica, Liana Sheppard of Brookline, NH, Cynthia King of Haverhill, Ricardo “Rick”
Toscano of Raymond, NH, Thomas Tosto of Pelham, NH, Nicholas and Christian Toscano of
NY; nine great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and her husband Joe
Imperato of Fla; and 3 nieces and 1 nephew.
She was also mother of the late Louis Toscano; and beloved guardian and aunt of Anita, Maria,
Josephine, Lucia, Fernando, Sandro, and Rocco LaRocca all of Terracina, Italy.
Her Funeral Mass was held Monday, Sept. 19, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Interment, Tuesday,
Sept. 20, at 12:00 Noon in Oak Grove Cemetery, Martha’s Vineyard.
