Obituary

Worcester: Burton "Burt" S. Skog, 89, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in the VA Hospital in West Roxbury. He leaves his wife of 63 years, the love of his life, Elizabeth (Gigliotti) Skog; two daughters- Darlene Skog of Yarmouth and Lori and her husband Paul Cutroni of Holden; two grandchildren- Jessica and Jason Cutroni; a sister- Doris Cusson of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews.
Burton, son of the late Sigurd and Enette (Jansson) Skog, was born in Worcester. He proudly volunteered and served his country in the US Navy during WWII. Burton worked for 38 years as a head truck driver for Morgan Construction Company and he also owned and operated "Burt's Popcorn", a family business, which sold popcorn, snow cones, and cotton candy at local events and community celebrations. He was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church and The Disabled American Veterans. Burton was an avid golfer, a loyal Red Sox and Patriots fan, and a good friend to many. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his family.
At his request, funeral services will be private. Burial in the MA Veterans Cemetery in Winchendon will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Burton’s memory may be made to the Boston Healthcare System, Voluntary Services, ATTN: Burton S. Skog Memorial Gift Fund, Voluntary Services Gift Officer, 1400 VFW Parkway, West Roxbury, MA 02132 or to the Disabled American Veterans, www.dav.org. The family would like to give special thanks to all of the nurses and doctors who took such special care of him at the West Roxbury VA, especially nurses Bing and Kelley.
