Obituary

DUDLEY – Marilyn R. (Blair) Boyd, 86, died Sunday, January 22, 2017 in Webster Manor after a period of declining health. Her husband of 27 years, William T. Boyd, died in 2006.

She leaves a stepson, Thompson W. Boyd and a step-granddaughter, Lee M. Boyd, both of Woodstock, CT; 3 sisters, Louise Roy and Frances Joeschke, both of Northbridge, and Barbara Smyth of Keene, NH; a brother, Donald Blair of Charlotte, N.Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, James Blair, Jr. and Earl, Robert, John and William Blair, and by a sister, Rose Frieswyk.

She was born and raised in Northbridge, a daughter of James W. Blair, Sr. and Rose (Duquette) Blair, and lived there until moving to Dudley in 1977. She graduated from Northbridge High School in 1948.

Mrs. Boyd worked as an estimator all her life. She was first employed at Whitin Machine Works in Northbridge and then by BFI in Warwick, RI. She retired from Fiberglass Fabricators in Harrisville, RI in 1991.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Dudley, where she had served on various committees. She loved to golf and was a member of the Worcester County Women’s Golf Association and the Thompson Raceway Golf Course. She enjoyed reading.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Webster Manor and the staff at Notre Dame Healthcare, whom she affectionately called “her Green Berets,” for their tender caring and compassion since November.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 26, at 10:00 AM in the First Congregational Church of Dudley, 135 Center Road. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends and relatives from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the church, prior to the service. Donations in her name may be made to the Pearle L. Crawford Memorial Library, 40 Schofield Avenue, Dudley, MA 01571. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster.
